80 Open Education Resource (OER) Tools for Publishing and Development Initiatives

Filed under: English, Open Content — frepa @ 15:51

I found this resource via Couros Blog . It is another good starting point for teachers and students who want to start exploring free resources that can be used for learning. See also my post about "Open Content and OpenCourseWare - a growing phenomena " to which I have also added this resource.

Many Open Education Resources (OER) that have been introduced by governments, universities, and individuals within the past few years. OERs provide teaching and learning materials that are freely available and offered online for anyone to use. Whether you’re an instructor, student, or self-learner, you have access to full courses, modules, syllabi, lectures, assignments, quizzes, activities, games, simulations, and tools to create these components.

Stupid as I am, I forgot the link to the resource in my first post…:(

Nu har vi sparkat av EdReNe projektet

Filed under: Learning Objects, MELT, Projects, Repository, Standards, Swedish, eLearning — frepa @ 14:42

2007 Schools Wikipedia Selection

Filed under: English, Open Content — frepa @ 08:27

Teemu Leinonen writes about this project on the FLOSSE Posse blog. Even though the Schools Wikipedia Selection follows the British curriculum, it could definitely be a valuable source for schools in other countries as well.

Have a look of the 2007 Schools Wikipedia Selection. It is about the size of a 15-volume encyclopaedia with 24 000 pictures. The articles included to the Selection were all reviewed and reorganized. There are also plans to extend and update it periodically. The Selection was made for 8-17 year old school children. It follows the UK National Curriculum. Because of this the selection is very anglo-centred. However, when you keep this in mind it is a great reading and a great extra resource for schools.
